RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Saturday welcomed the US-mediated ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, expressing hope that it would contribute to restoring security and stability in the region.
According to the report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended both countries for their restraint and called for resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
The Kingdom stressed the importance of good neighborly relations in promoting regional peace and prosperity.
The ceasefire was announced after both Islamabad and New Delhi confirmed the agreement on Saturday, following heightened tensions and US-mediated talks late Friday.
President Donald Trump said Washington had played a key role in brokering the understanding between the two nuclear-armed nations.
